Nekotalia- don't be shy

"Brrrr... it's a bit cold today." A creme colored cat with brown fur running along his back shivers slightly as he walks along the streets with one of his amigos, a muscular red furred Scottish fold.

"Aye, you're not used to this type of weather yet are ye?" The Scottish fold snickers.

"No way. It's so frio here, nothing like the bien weather of Spain." the first cat mews.

"Well get used to it laddie, it's winter here and the weather gets cold." The Scottish fold responds and the two continue walking along the side of buildings in the shopping plaza. they're owners owned a small restaurant with in the plaza, deli/cafe by day and pub by night, and the cats were allowed to roam around during work hours seeing as how the owners had their own housing above the restaurant.

"Oh Scottie, did you hear what our owners were talking about this morning?" The Spanish cat asks excitedly to the other. "They were talking about getting another cat, apparently the human people like having cats around the resturante, it's unique."

"Aye i heard, their suppose to be going this afternoon to get one this afternoon before the night people show up." Scottie replies.  "Really nothing to get excited about Toni, it means we'll have to share our food with another mouth and fight over our nap spots now." the Scottish fold scoffs clearly not excited about the idea.

"I think it will be fun, having another amigo or amiga around, i hope it's an amiga, i bet she'll be so bonita!" Toni purrs thinking about living with a female cat.

"Yeah, you keep living in your fantasy kitty  world." Scottie teases his Spanish feline friend.

The day goes on and the two cats are stored away in the upstairs apartment while their owners leave to adopt a new cat for the restaurant. Toni excitedly waits by the window watching every and thing coming towards the building, hoping it to be the new cat.

"Waiting like that isn't going to make time move fast laddie." Scottie comments rolling over in his sleeping spot on the couch.

"I know, but i can't wait to see them come home." Toni grins.

"You're acting like a dog." Scottie tells him.

"I am not." Toni pouts.

"Are too."

"I am not!" Toni frowns and pounces on his friend causing both to topple off the couch. Scottie swipes at him with a claw less paw warning causing Toni to run into the kitchen and stalk peek at Scottie from around the corner.

"I see." Scottie grins and the two cats begin to chase each other around the living jumping up on the couch and then back off it until the both hear the sound of foot steps coming closer to the front door. both cats immediately stop and watch curiously as their owners open the door and carry in a single cat carrier and set it down.

"Hola chicos, we have someone we want you to meet." toni's owner smiles as he unlocks the cat carrier.

"Aye, we couldn't decided on which one and chose not to separate these two sisters." Scotties master comments as both male cats watch to see see two little heads poke out from the carrier nervously. One was white with fluffy furry and blue eyes, the other looked similar in size only with shorter fur and a long black patch of fur going down her back much like toni. The fluffier of the two had a baby pink bow around her neck and the other a midnight blue.

"Meet the chicas." Toni's owner smiles as the girls quietly exit the carrier looking around nervously.

"This one is Ophie." Scottie's owner tells them reaching down and petting the fluffy white cat's head.

"And this one is Rosie." Toni's owner adds petting the black striped cat. "You amigos play nice with the chicas okay?"

"Aye,  show them around." Scottie's tells the two males.

Both male cats stare at the two new comers, Toni with pure interest and Scottie with a slight glare. one knew comer was enough in his mind, now there were two... The owners stared for a while to see how they're cats would react and watched carefully for a moment. None of the cats moved as the males stared and the girls were too nervous and shy looking at the intimidating males in the new environment. Toni was the first to approach the girls and sniffed ophie who happily sniffed him back with a shy mew. He then went to sniff Rosie who shied away nervously and mewed quietly. Scottie however didn't move and continued to watch the girls after Toni finished his greeting. Ophie timidly walked up to him to make friendly contact but the large scottish fold gets up and walks away.

"Scottie be nice to the lassies!" his owner scolds, but the cat continues walking away. The owners sigh and leave to continue work down stairs biding the cats farewell and that they would come back to check on them later.

The girls quietly search the upstairs apartment room by room to become familiar with their new surroundings. Toni finds the girls currently searching the kitchen under the table.

"Hola chicas." he greets happily which surprises the girls causing them to  run and hide around the corner outside the kitchen. "Que? wait don't be shy, i just wanted to see if you wanted me to show them around." he smiles sitting down facing their direction.

"You're really nice." Rosie says shyly looking around the corner of the door frame.

"You just startled us is all." Ophie adds also peeking around.

"You chicas are very pretty, do you like your new home so far? My name is Toni by the way." He smiles taking slow steps towards them with his tail standing straight up.

"Hello Toni." Rosie says approaching him with a shy mew.

"No need to be shy Chica." Toni smiles swishing his tail all silly like.

"You sure use some strange words." Ophie giggles.

"It's espanol, i'm from Espana." Toni chimes. "It's a muy bonita place."

"Bonita?" Rosie asks.

"Oh it means beautiful." Toni replies. "Come here i'll show you some pictures my owner has." he says excitedly and hurries out of the kitchen. The girls slowly follow after him unsure where he was going until they find themselves in the living room. There they watch as Toni hops up on the couch were Scottie was laying and they onto a small side table lined with what people call pictures, but they really just looked like small flat places that didn't move to  a cat.

"This is Espana." toni chirps showing them several small pictures of this place called Espana, in one was his owner and him seated on what looked like an outdoor porch. "Doesn't it look nice and warm?"

"I guess so." Ophie replies from the floor.

"why don't you come up here chicas?" Toni asks and both girls look towards the  scottish fold laying on the couch ignoring them with eyes closed. "Oh don't be shy, Scottie is very nice aren't you amigo?" Toni asks jumping down on the couch and pokes Scottie with his paw.

"Hmph. Aye i'm nice enough when i want to be." The scottish fold growls softly and rolls over and goes back to sleep.

"Awww amigo, you're making the chica's nervous." Toni mews to his friend and is promptly ignored.

"I don't think he likes us very much." Rosie mews shyly.

"Yeah he's kinda grumpy." Ophie agrees.

"I'll show ye lassies grumpy!" Scottie says suddenly jumping up on his paws making both girls mew and run to hide.

"No Chica's come back!" toni calls out and then turns a hateful glare towards Scottie. "Now you've done it!" he hisses and runs off to find the female felines and apologize for his friend's behavior.

A few minutes pass and Scottie watches as Toni runs from room to room looking for the female cats, as he comes to the last room in the hall, being Scottie's owner's room, Toni finds Ophie's fluffy white tail sticking out from under the bed.

"You okay Chica?" Toni asks and Ophie's tail disappears under the bed and her head sudden pokes out in return.

"He's mean." Ophie pouts.

"He's just not used to new gatos, it took him a while to warm up to me too." Toni smiles. "Now come out from there chicas and i'll finish showing you around the place."

"Rosie isn't in this room." Ophie responds.

"Que? She's not?" Toni asks surprised. "She wasn't in an of the other rooms i checked."

"She ran towards the small door  near the living room." Ophie tells him.

"Small door?" Toni asks and then sudden realization hits him. She must mean the small door in the human door that lead towards the down stairs restaurant and outside. "Oh no." He says and quickly runs out of the room.

Scottie raises his head as he hears Toni come racing out of the hall and towards the front door of the apartment.

"What's going on laddie?" Scottie asks curiously at Toni's panicked state.

"One of the chicas went down stairs when she was scared. Look after Ophie por favor!" Toni yells out and quickly slips through the cat door and hurries down stairs leaving Scottie watching and Ophie quietly walking down the hall looking confused to what was going on.

"Wha.. what's wrong going through that little door?" Ophie asks out loud, but Toni was gone.

"That door leads to the down stairs where alot of humans come and eat their human food our owner's make... they get louder at night." Scottie tells her. "Certainly no place for the lassie not being used to it here."

"Oh no, we should go help." Ophie mews approaching Scottie with a worried look in her eyes.

"No can do, It will be best for the lad to find her." Scottie comments. "He's lived here ever since this place started with me, he'll find her."

"O-okay, if your sure." Ophie mews sadly looking at the floor.

Meanwhile down stairs Rosie was terrified and hiding under a section of counter on the cashier and bartender's side. It was noise with human's drinking and clanking their glasses loudly and talking over one another. She shivered under the counter and back up under a small shelf with bottles loaded ontop of it. She couldn't remember which way she had come and was too scared to move.

Toni frantically searched from the bottom of the stairs looking for Rosie but he could not see her. He walked carefully in the now crowded pub searching under table after table. He made his way to the bar area and saw a small tuff of white and black fur under one of the shelves and quickly made his way avoiding being stepped on.

"Rosie!" Toni pants and Rosie pokes her head up slightly to see Toni looking down at her. "I finally found you, are you alright?"

"It's too loud." rosie mews and shakes when roarful laughter from customers breaks out from somewhere in the room.

"I know, come on chica, let's head back." He mews. "I'll stay by your side the whole way."

Timidly Rosie comes out from under the shelf and Toni smiles.

"What's going on here?" a human voice asks from above them and both cats look up to see Toni's owner looking down at them. "This is no place for a new little girl like yourself. Come here." he says picking Rosie and she mews at him causing him to smile. "come on let's get you back upstairs." he tells the little cat and begins walking back upstairs with her in his arms while Toni follows behind.

Toni's owner opens the door and is immediately greeted by Ophie was was mewing worriedly at Rosie. The owner sets Rosie down and the two females begin purring and nuzzling against eachother.

"There we go, your sister missed you." Toni's owner smiles and then turns to toni and pets his head. "You went looking for her didn't you amigo? Good gato." he smiles and then heads back down stairs closing the door behind him.

"I'm so glad you're back!" Ophie mews still rubbing against Rosie.

"Me too, it was scary down there." Rosie mews back and then looks back towards Toni. "thank you for finding me."

"No problemo chica." He smiles. "Down stairs isn't so bad, Scottie and i'll take you down stairs when it's not so bad one day." Both girls nod and Scottie just watches from the couch and nods as well knowing that the two would have to get used to the restaurant sometime.

Days go by and Scottie begins to eventually warm up to the two girls, they respected his sleeping spots  and moved if he as so much came up to a spot they were in. They shared food on occasion but their food bowls were separated so he didn't much mind. Toni was usually talking with the girls and warming up to them, but overall Scottie noticed that both girls were still rather shy. Rosie was rather quiet and friendly with the owners and Toni. Ophie was quiet in her own way too, but was very curious about everything like a kitten that amused Scottie. She did everything from chasing a cat toy across the room to playing with end of her bow around her neck.

Today the down stairs was closed for it's day off and the owners had gone out for the afternoon locking the restaurant behind them. toni pranced around the apartment excitedly up to the girls who were currently laying in a sunny patch on the living room floor.

"Hola chicas, ready to visit down stairs?" he asks with his green cat eyes sparkling with excitement.

"A-are you sure?" Rosie asks lifting her head.

"Si! Our owners are gone for a while and restaurant is closed there aren't any humans down there right now." He tells them waving his tail slightly. "This will be a perfect time for you explore."

"Sounds interesting!" Ophie mews excitedly and gets up. "Let's go Rosie."

"Alright." Rosie nods still nervous from last time's accidentally visit, and she follows her sister and Toni out the cat door and down the stairs.

When they arrive in the empty quiet restaurant they see Scottie already down there laying on an empty chair that was left pulled out. He raises his head and looks at the three cats enter the large dining room.

"It's so big." Rosie mews in awe.

"And so many tall chairs and tables!" Ophie mews excitedly looking around at the new surroundings.

"See it's not so bad is it chicas?" Toni purrs. "During the day is usually quiet too and lots of other human's like to pet us when waiting for their human food."

"Really?" Rosie asks.

"Si!, sometimes if they order a fish  type of food they drop some of the ground for us." Toni tells her excitedly.

"Aye, but it's usually the older humans who do that." Scottie says sitting up in his chair and scratches behind his ear with his hind leg.

"What is it like at night?" Ophie asks curiously.

"That's  when the night humans come around and drink strong smelling water that's different colors." Scottie replies. "the more they drink the louder they get, we don't usually come down during that time unless there aren't that many."

"This place sounds like fun." Ophie chirps.

"Aye, and this place is know for us cats, so you lassies have to learn to interact with the humans during the day. It's our job to keep them entertained while our owners are busy making the human food." Scottie teaches the girls.

"It won't be like that one time will it?" Rosie asks Toni with a small mew.

"Don't worry chica, I'll stay by you until you feel comfortable." The brown striped cat purrs confidently.

"Thank you Toni." Rosie purrs back and looks over just in time to see Ophie quietly sneaking up behind Scottie eyeing his red flicking tail. "Uhh..." Rosie begins with suddenly Ophie pounces towards Scottie landing square on his tail. There is a loud yelp, a hiss and the blurr of white and red patched fur running past Rosie and Toni that proceeds to run all around the restaurant floor.

"Why you!!!" Scottie growls towards Ophie as she runs away at full speed.

"you really are a grumpy cat!" Ophie snickers as Scottie continues to chase her.

"Amigos becare-" toni begins only to hear a loud crash as both cats slam into the edge of the bar knocking a glass sitting too close to the edge of the counter top to topple over and shatter of the ground. "Ful...." Toni sighs as the scene unfolds.

Both the scottish fold and white cat are scared stiff as they  look at the broken glass laying on the floor. A sound of the door knob rattling begins and all four cats look to see Scottie's owner coming into the restaurant and stops dead in his tracks seeing the broken glass on the floor next to Scottie and Ophie. With a sigh the man closes the door behind him and approaches the two guilty looking cats.

"What have ye two done now?" he asks looking down at the cats. Scottie instantly mews and begins rubbing against his owner's leg trying desperately to avoid being blamed while Ophie mews quietly with her ears lowered knowing what they did was bad. The man bends down and pets Ophie on the head. "That's okay lassie, you aren't used to this stuff yet, i think you know better now. You however..." the man says looking towards Scottie who freezes in places looking at his owner wide eyed. "You laddie, know better than to let this happen, you should be a better example for the lassies." he scolds his cat and goes to clean up the broken glass.

"Oi! You got me in trouble." Scottie growls quietly towards Ophie.

"I didn't mean too, i'm sorry." Ophie mews sadly lowering her ears and head. Scottie looks at her for a moment and then huffs.

"As long as it doesn't happen again." he mews looking away. "I forgive ye." at this Ophie's ears perk up and she looks up at the scottish fold.

"Thank you!" she purrs excitedly and begins to rub against him.

"Aye! Alright lassie!" Scottie mews back at her rubbing all over him. "Stop or you'll give me static fur." but she doesn't stop and continues to rub all over him. Rosie and Toni look at the two and then back at eachother and giggle.

The days continue to go by and the days grow colder. The humans began to put more and more fabric on their fur less bodies, well mostly fur less with exception of what they head on their heads. The cats didn't mind the cold however as they snuggled up in the human's laps being it the owners or the customers. The girls were adapting quite well and the customers were very pleased at the new little cats with how well behaved they were. Yes life was becoming quite comfortable in the small cafe/pub and the girls soon seemed like they always belonged there from the start.

Today was and exceptionally cold day and the sky was covered in dark grey clouds. The cats were snuggled up on a blanket their owners had sprawled out near a funny box that gave out warm heat through the air, the girls thought it was magical. Scottie and Toni told them their owners called this a space heater and brought it out especially during the winter time to help keep their home nice and warm.

"It's still so cold." Toni mews as he curls himself into a tight ball.

"What's wrong Toni?" Rosie asks curiously as she walks over and lays next to him and he buries his nose into he fur.

"Aren't you freezing chica?" he asks snuggling up closer to him.

"Not really, this spot is nice and warm." rosie mews back.

"don't mind him, he always acts like this during winter time." Scottie meows towards him and he lays on his side. "Acts like he can never get warm."

"Because i can't! I'm not used to this frio weather." Toni huffs.

"I know a way to warm you up!" Ophie mews and walks up and pounces ontop of Toni and Roise pining them underneath. "Kitten mountain!"

"We're not kittens anymore, you're heavy!" Roise mews.

"S-si!" Toni squirms underneath.

"Aye, if you're going to have a proper mountain it should be more like this..." Scottie meows and walks up to the pile and promptly lays right ontop with his big form and squashes the three other cats under neath him causing them all to yelp in surprised.

"Amigo! Usted es demasiado pesado! you're too heavy!" toni mews pathetically.

"You're warm now aren't ye laddie?" Scottie snickers.

"you're crushing us." Rosie mews trapped with Toni.

"Nothing ye all don't deserve." Scottie replies and makes no signs of getting up anytime soon.

"Oh!" Ophie suddenly mews and quickly squirms her way out of the pile and hurriedly jumps on the couch near the window and looks out to see large white pieces of fluff falling from the sky.

"Aye, it's snowing." Scottie says getting up and up and jumping on the couch next to her.

"Can we go out and see it?" Ophie asks curiously.

"Aye let's go." Scottie says and starts heading towards the cat door.

"Rosie Toni let's go look at the snow!" Ophie mews.

"No gracias." Toni mews still laying on the mat by the heater. " You go on ahead."

"Aww okay, come on Rosie." Ophie mews.

"Okay Okay, I'm coming." Rosie mews and follows after her sister to the down stairs where they was another cat door in the back of the restaurant that lead to the outside.

The snow had already begun to fall heavy around the restaurant leaving a fair amount on the ground covering everything in white.

"So pretty!" Ophie and Roise both mew standing next to Scottie under the covered porch.

"Aye, it snows every winter here." Scottie mews and notices Ophie taking a step towards the snow covered ground. "Careful lassie!" he mews as she puts her paw down on the ice cold ground.

"Yeow! it's cold!!!" Ophie yelps and hurries back under the covered area.

"That's because that white stuff is really tiny pieces of ice." Scottie tells them. "My owner told me when he first brought me out in the snow when i was a mere kit." he tells them proudly for being a smart cat.

"Ice huh? no wonder it's cold." Ophie responds.

"The pound humans used to let us play with ice cubes on hot days." Roise informs Scottie.

"So this means this is like a whole lot of tiny ice cubes!" Ophie mews and jumps towards the snow leaving a small indent of where she was. The snow wasn't hard and was rather soft, cold and fun! "Come of Roise! this is fun!" she mews and begins to run around in the snow. Rosie takes and step and shivers a minute at the cold temperature and soon joins in with her sister in running around. Scottie joins in to and the cats begin a game of chase, hiding around snow banks and pouncing on eachother.

The snow continues to fall and snow on the ground grows higher and higher coming up to the cat's under bellys, they had spent hours playing and now Rosie was cleaning her paws of snow under the covered area. Scottie comes onto the pouch and shakes his fur loose of all the snow stuck to his back and looks over to Rosie.

"Ye sister go back inside already?" He asks licking his own paws until he notices Rosies confused face.

"No, I thought she was still playing with you." Rosie responds.

"Wha? I lost track of her and thought she went back in." Scottie responds.

"I didn't see her come by." Rosie responds.

"Hola Amigos, having fun?" Toni asks poking his head out through the cat door. "Que, what's wrong?" he asks at their worried faces.

"Is Ophie in there?" rosie asks worriedly.

"No i don't think she is." Toni mews back and suddenly Scottie takes off running in the snow.

"The lassie is lost in the snow then." Scottie growls running off and Roise goes to follow after him.

"No chica, Scottie knows the area better than anyone, you might get lost yourself." Toni quickly stops her by nipping at her tail.

"But she's my sister." Rosie hisses.

"And he'll find her." Toni mews and comes out to sit next her. "Trust me. I'll stay right here with you until they come back." he mews rubbing against her to help warm her up.

"Aren't you cold though?" Rosie asks still looking out towards the direction Scottie went.

"Nah, besides if i went back inside i'd still be worried Ophie and about you chica." he purrs.

Scottie runs along the snow following any small paths of foot prints her can find and finally see a small pink ribbon sticking up behind a mound of snow. Quickly he moves towards it to see Ophie laying in the snow shivering.

"Ophie!" He calls out walking up to her. Thank goodness for her pink bow or he would have missed her completely.

"Scottie!" She mews out but doens't get up and when Scottie comes around the mound he sees why. Her small body was trapped under a cardboard box that was covered with snow. "I was hiding over here then this box just fell on me."

"Aye, probably the snow made it heavy." He nods in agreeance. "Are ye hurt?"

"I don't think so, but i'm really cold scottie." she says weakly.

"Alright. I'm going to push on this box and you try to wiggle out." He tells the white cat and she nods. "Alright... go!" he growls and pushes against the box by standing on his back paws and places his front paws on the box. the movement tilted the box just enough for Ophie to wiggle herself free making both cats very happy.

"thank you Scottie! Thanks so much!" Ophie pants sitting on the snow.

"Oi! you can't relax yet, we got to get you somewhere warm." Scottie tells her.

"Iunno if I can walk all that way." Ophie mews and suddenly Scottie snatches her up by the scruff of her neck and begins walking, half dragging her little body through the snow. "Wha- what are you doing?" she mews.

"Ye  said... you didn't... know if you could walk." Scottie mumbles through his mouth and continues to drag Ophie through the snow to the covered area near the cat door. There she was greeted with a relieve Rosie and Toni who rubbed all against her until Scottie hissed at them to get her inside and to the heater.

Soon upstairs Ophie found herself on the nice warm mat by the heater surrounded by Scottie, Rosie and toni who were all curled up next to her to help share their warmth to her.

"we were so worried." Rosie mews laying her head next to Ophie's paws.

"Si!, I'm glad Scottie was able to find you." Toni mews.

"Yeah, Thanks Scottie, I probably would have froze out there if you didn't find me." Ophie mew happily looking towards the scottish fold.

"T'was nothin. Just keep wearing that there pink bow and i'll find you no matter where ye are." Scottie purrs and lays his head ontop of Ophies making it nice and warm. "I'm just glad yer safe lassie."

"Me too." Ophie purrs back leaning into his warmth listening to his gentle purrs.

"They look cozy." Rosie mews quietly towards toni.

"Let's get cozy too chica." The spanish cat smirks and curls up even closer to Rosie sending the matt to into a purring frenzy.

A year has gone by and Toni nervously paces outside a closed door. It had been a few weeks since both Ophie and Rosie had been taking inside and their owners were keeping both he and Scottie out. The spanish cat continues to pace whe Scottie walks up to him.

"Calm down laddie, they'll let us in when they think it's time." Scottie mews.

"I know Amigo." toni sighs. "I'm just nervioso you see. I mean this is my first time."

"Oi! it's my first time too, but i'm not that nervous." Scottie hisses and just then the sound of the door knob turning catches both of the male cats attention.

"Ready to meet them?" Toni's owner smiles and lets the two males inside.

Inside Rosie and Ophie were both sitting in two beds next to eachother. Each were looking at the two males yearning for them to come closer. As both males approached they saw each female with three little sleep kittens each laying next to their bodies.

"Aye, they're lovely lassie." Scottie mews rubbing against Ophie's head and peers down at his little kittens.

"they all look like you." Ophie purrs at her little scottish fold kittens who had similar markings to Scottie.

"Aye, but this one is fluffy just like you." he mew and bumps noses with a small fluffy haired scottish fold who gives a tiny mew and looks up at him with wide eyes making the scottish  male grin.

"Come meet your daddy." Rosie mews at her own kittens who were still snuggling tightly at her. One looked exactly like Toni and one like Rosie, leaving the third a perfect mix with a dark brown strip down it's back. Toni crouches down and happily mews at the kittens to look at him.

"Come of now, don't me shy mi ninos." he purrs as all three small kittens look towards him.
